Shortly after 16:00 hours as Chief Byrd, Engine 5 and Rescue 3 were returning to the borough the tones went out for a reported car fire at 24 East Madison Avenue.  Chief Byrd, Engine 5 and the Rescue were in service immediately.  Chief Byrd arrived on scene and confirmed a working car fire in the driveway.  Engine 5 arrived and stretched an 1 3/4" attack line and began knocking down the fire that consumed the passenger compartment of a Ford passenger van.  The rescue arrived on scene and began opening up the vehicle and securing the battery.  Also on scene were Assistant Chief Molinaro (operations) and Chief Spina.
